Thirumukkudal got its name since three Rivers viz.Palar, Veghavathi and Cheyyar merge here as one. It is very close to Palayaseevaram which is midway between Chenglepattu and Kanchipuram. Sri Prasanna Venkadesa Perumal Temple in Thirumukoodal is supposed to be more than 1200 years old and is said to have been built by King Thondaiman Chakravarthy. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lord Prasanna Venkatesa Perumaal and He is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and He is seen in a standing posture in the Moolasthanam. He Blesses His Devotees along with His Consort Goddess Alarmel Mangai Thaayar. Kanchipuram Varadharaja Perumal, Palayaseevaram Lakshmi Narasimhar and Appan Prasanna Venkadesa Perumal jointly give a Darshan to all Devotees on Kaanum Pongal Day which is a delight to watch. His Consort Alarmel Mangai Thaayar occupies a separate Shrine to Bless Her Devotees. There are Sub Shrines for Sri Varadhar, Andal and Anjaneya Swamy. In this Temple Anjaneya Swamy is given a lot of respect almost equivalent to that of the Moolavar. Devotees must note that Vadamaalai cannot be offered to Lord Anjaneya Swamy like other Temples, instead Thenkuzhal can be offered to HIM as a garland. From the inscriptions available in this Temple it is evident that during the Chola days there was a Vedha Paadasalai existing in the Temple and students from far and near were taught in Rig, Yajur, Saama and Adharvana Vedams. Sages Brighu and Markandeyar and Bhumadevi had worshipped this God here. There are three Sthala Viruksham or Sacred Trees and they are Devadhaari, Vanni, Sandhanam.
