Our Lady of Lourdes Basilica is a Roman Catholic Church. This Church is also known as Poondi Madha Church. Constantine Joseph Beschi  (Veeramamunivar) a Tamil Scholar worked very hard in building this Church. Statue of Poondi Madha is kept inside the dome of this Church. Statue of Poondi Madha was sculpted in France and was brought to India by Rev. Father Darres. Statue of Our Lady of Lourdes looks so realistic as if a real person is standing in front of us. This Church was renovated on 22nd November 1956. This Church attracts a huge number of Devotees from far and near every year on the occasion of Poondi Madha's Birthday on 8th September. There is a Huge Jesus Statue at the entrance which is made out of white marble. The Current Church Complex is built by following the Gothic and French architectural styles. There is a small museum inside the Church which provides intricate details about the Church's History. It is believed that the original Cross used to crucify Jesus is kept in this Church. There is a Church owned Shop for Devotees to buy Idols, Books, CDs, Calendars, Bibles, Rosaries, Holy Water and Oil.
