Alathiyoor is also known as Alathiyur or Alattiyur. The full name of the Temple is Alathiyoor Sri Hanuman Kavu Temple which is East facing and located between River Ponnani and River Bharathapuzha. It is very close to Tirur in Malappuram District. This Temple is also called as Alathiyur Perumthrikkovil. Though the Temple is called as Hanuman Kavu Temple the Presiding Deity of this Temple is Sri Ramachandramoorthy. It is believed that around 3000 years ago Sage Vashista had installed the Idol of Sri Hanuman. There is a small temporary Welcome Arch with a narrow lane leading to the car parking. At the entrance of the Temple they have displayed red coloured Image of Sri Hanuman Swamy. On entering the Temple there is a Namaskaara Mandapam through which the Presiding Deity of Sri Rama could be viewied with reverence. The threshold of the Sanctum Sanctorum looks impressive with its gold plating and the Presiding Deity of Sri Ram who is East facing is majestic and resplendent. To the left of the Raama's Shrine is the Shrine of Sri Hanuman who is seen holding a Mace. The threshold of Hanuman Sannadhi too looks splendid with its gold plating. Devotees who come to Pray Sri Hanuman here are allowed to hold the Mace in their hand and Pray. By doing so there is a general belief that all good would bestow on them. The stance of Sri Hanuman in His Shrine reminds us as though He is ready to take off to Sri Lanka with Rama's instructions. During this Time Sri Rama had revealed some of His personal details to Sri Hanuman so that He could pass it on to Seetha to gain Her confidence. Due to this reason Lakshmana is not seen along with the Presiding Deity Rama. This is the reason as to why Lakshmana's Sub Shrine is located in the outer peripheral some distance away. Paal Payasam and Sweet Aval are served as Prasadams for Lord Rama and Sri Hanuman respectively. In the inner peripheral there are Sub Shrines for Ganapathy and Ayyappan. Likewise there is another Sub Shrine for Bagawathy Amman. The Temple Kitchen or Madapalli along with the Temple well is also located in the inner peripheral. There is a Temple Office in the outer peripheral with several counters for various types of Sevas. The outer peripheral is full of coconut trees with an adjoining Pushkarani closeby. A small Peepal Tree can be seen before the Temple Tank. It is important to note that this Temple does not have any Flag Staff or Dwajasthambam. Opposite to the Temple car parking there are few shops which sell Divine and Pooja articles. The most important aspect of this Temple is that the former CM of Tamil Nadu Late. J.Jayalalitha had donated a Diamond Crown to this Temple which is the Talk of the Town.
