The Kaala Bhairavar Temple in Adhiyamankottai is very close to Dharmapuri Town and is called as Dhakshina Kasi Kala Bairavar Temple. The Temple has a West facing Welcome Arch on the Road and two Bhairavar Idols are kept beneath it. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lord Kalabhairavar. There are only two Temples dedicated to Kalabhairavar and this Temple is one of them. King Adhiyaman built this Temple on the advice of his Astrologer who specified everything to the King and had the Temple built the way it should precisely be, so that the King could win wars easily. There is a Dwajasthamabm or Flag Staff facing the Moolasthanam. The Temple has a multi pillared Mandapam in which a Bhairavar faces the Moolasthanam. This Bhairavar Idol is kept in a four pillared Mandapam facing North and the Mandapam is covered with several Rudrakshams. This Temple does not have a Navagraha Sannadhi like other Temples. Instead, the Navagrahams are etched on the ceiling of the Mandapam before the Moolasthanam. These Navagrahams are etched in the shape of Stars. In the Sanctum Sanctorum the Presiding Deity of Kaala Bhairavar is seen as a black Idol and in a standing posture facing South. In the outer peripheral there is another Bhairavar Idol facing South and several Lamps are lit around it. The Temple has a Yaaga Mandapam too. Devotees from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh visit this Temple every year in order to get the Blessings of Lord Kaala Bhairavar. This Temple is around 1200 years old. It is believed that worshipping Lord Kalabhairavar will bring good deeds within three months. It is therefore believed that Devotees coming and Praying would win everything in life for them. Thousands of Devotees visit this Temple on Ashtami and Sundays from different parts of the world. The Temple has a Madapalli or a Temple Kitchen and it has a Annadhanakoodam to serve the Devotees. The Sthala Viruksham is a Vilva Maram and the Theertham is Kuruthi Theertham. This Temple has a wonderful Nandhavanam in which 27 different Sapplings indicating the 27 Stars are maintained. THe Temple has free darshan facilities and other paid darshans too. Likewise the Temple sells different kinds of lamps for various rates which the Devotees fondly buy and light them before the Bhairavar Idol. Lighting a Poosani Lamp or white Pumpkin Lamp before the Bhairavar is considered as auspicious. Full Moon Day, Sorna Krishna Kubera Pooja and Thei Pirai Ashtami, Chatru Samhaara Homam are celebrated in a grand manner.
