Sri Kailasanathar Temple is situated in Rasipuram and it is an important Temple and a landmark in Rasipuram. It is a West facing Temple with a five tiered Rajagopuram. To begin with there is a multi pillared Mandapam and Devotees may have to climb down 4 to 5 steps. There is a gold plated threshold just beneath the Rajagopuram which is quite unusual. A West facing Gopura Vinayagar Idol is seen beneath the Rajagopuram. Beyond it is another multi pillared Mandapam in which there is a Neivedhya Peedam or a Bali Peedam along with a Dwajasthambam or a Kodi Maram. A huge East facing Nandhi Vaahanam could be seen overlooking the Moolasthanam. Two black Dwara Baalaka Idols are seen at the entrance of the Sanctum Sanctorum. In the Moolasthanam Sri Kailasanathar is seen as a Swayambhu Shiva Lingam. The Urchavamoorthy Idol along with a few other Idols are safely kept in an enclosure close to the Moolasthanam. Two Dwara Baalaki Idols are seen at the threshold of the Ambal's Shrine. His Consort here is known as Dharmasamvarthini or Aram Valartha Nayaki and She is construed as an incarnation of Goddess Parvathy. She is seen in an East facing standing posture. There are Sub Shrines for Sagada Vinayagar, Veera Badrar, Subramaniyar, Kaala Bhairavar, Sani Bhagawan, Siva Suryan, Natarajar, Pancha Lingams, Saraswathi, Gajalakshmi, Naalvar, Sekkizhar, 63 Nayanmaars, Mei Kanda Sivam, Arunandhi Sivam, Marai Gnana Sammandha Sivam. Around the Koshtam there are Idols for Durgai Amman, Brahmma, Chandikeshwarar, Lingothbhavar and Dhakshinamoorthy. It is unique that Lord Murugan is seen here in two forms viz. Baladhandayuthapani and Kalyana Subramaniyar. Naga Devatha Idols  too are worshipped here and it is a habit to pour milk over it so that the Devotees are saved from the Naaga Dosham. There is a Navagraha Sannadhi and Palliyarai in the inner peripheral of the Temple.  Apart from this the Temple has a separate Sub Shrine for the Philanthropic King Valvil Ori who was primarily instrumental in building this Temple. It is said that in the earlier days there was a tunnel leading from this Temple to the Arapaleeswarar Temple in Kolli Hiils. There is a general belief that those performing in fine arts would hone thier skill in such faculties if they happen to come and pray before Lord Kailasanathar. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is Vanni Maram and there is an East facing Idol of Valvil Ori in a standing posture and King Valvil Ori was instrumental in establishing this Temple. Festivals like Pradhosham, Aippasi Annabhikshekam, Thai Poosam, Maasi Magam, Panguni Uthiram and Chithirai Brahmmothsavam draws an overwhelming number of Devotees at that time.
