Periamalai Sivan Temple in Injimedu is located at the extreme end of the village in a remote area.  This Temple is also called as Thirumanicherai Udayar Temple or Sri  Peria Malai Sivan Temple and it is located in Injimedu  in Vandavasi Taluk. There is no Ghat Road to reach the Temple and Devotees have to climb around 100 steps by foot.  The Chola King Vikramadithya is believed to have built these footsteps leading to the Temple in the year 1126. The entire foot steps right from the base till the Temple top is neatly covered on top with a tinned roofing so that Rain or Sunshine does not affect the Devotees.  On the right side of the steps is a Navagraha Sannadhi with a concrete roofing and grill.  Beyond it is another Sub Shrine for Sage Agastiyar since it is believed that Sage Agasthiyar had come here during his lifetime.  A Natural Spring is found here from which medicated water is believed to be oozing out and they have built a Conch like structure around it.  This water is said to be a very good Anti Venom for all type of snake bites.   It is believed that drinking this water for 48 days would get rid of all ailments of such Devotees.  Midway to the Temple is a Peepal and Neem Tree in close proximity and it has been neatly cemented and a Trident along with several Naga Devathas Idols are kept around it. Facing the the Moolavar is a huge Nandhi Vaahanam and a Dwajasthambam kept in the open.  This Nandhi Vaahanam gain prominence during Pradosham days.  On entering the Maha Mandapam of the Sanctum Sanctorum another small Nandhi Vaahanam is kept.  The Presiding Deity is East facing and is in the form of a Shiva Lingam  made out of a mixture of Navapashanam which is a combination of 7 Herbal Medicines and the Presiding Deity is 5 feet and 6 inches tall.  His Consort Goddess Parvathi is known here as Thirumani Nayaki Ambal and She is South facing in a separate Sub Shrine. There is a huge Idol for Lord Ganesha made out of White stone and fetched here from Gujarat and He is affectionately known here as Palingu Sakthi Vinayagar.  Opposite to it is a huge Neem and Peepal Tree on which turmeric and kumkum are smeared and prayed. There are Sub Shrines for Koshta Vinayagar, Dhakshinamoorthy, Lingothbavar, Brahmma, Durgai, Chandikeshwarar and Murugan is seen here along with His Consorts Valli and Deivanai.  There is a Cave here and still Devotees believe that Paambaati Siddhar lives in it in the form of a Snake.   There is a huge brass and an electric gong.  Thulabaaram facility is also available for the sake of Devotees.  The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is Thalambhoo and the Theertham is  Siddhamirtha Theertham.  A Girivalam walk way is available for the Devotees.  Panguni Uthiram, Maha Sivaraathiri, Margazhi Thiruvadhirai are some of the important festivals celebrated here. The Temple is unique since there is an elevated area with around 10 to 15 steps where Devotees who visit this hilltop Periyamalai Temple can see Arunachaleswarar Temple in Thiruvannamalai from here.  Likewise on Annamalai Deepam day this Temple lights the Fire simultaneously along with the Tiruvannamalai Temple.   This place is considered as Pithru Dosha Parihaara Sthalam or Pithru Dosha Nivarthi Sthalam.
