Sri Satchinatheswarar Temple is located in a far off village called Thiruppurambiam near the Temple Town of Kumbakonam. Sri Saatchinatha Swamy Temple comprises of a five tiered East facing Rajagopuram. Though located in a distant village this Temple is revered as a Guru Sthalam. Just before the Rajagopuram is a Sub Shrine for Thenmuga Paraman who is otherwise known as Dhakshinamoorthy or Guru Bhagwan. It is believed that the Thenmuga Paraman ought to be Prayed first before entering the Rajagopuram. At the outset there is a Dwajasthambam, a Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Vaahanam which is placed in a four pillared Mandapam facing the Sanctum Sanctorum. The Pralayam Kaatha Vinayagar is notable here and He is supposed to made up of Sea Shell, Sea Foam etc and when Honey is poured on Him it is absorbed that He absorbs the entire Honey without letting out a single drop. At the threshold of the Moolasthanam Mukkann Ganapathy and Dhandapani take over the role as Dwara Baalagas. Apart from this there are a pair of huge and colourful Dwara Baalagas and another black pair of Dwara Baalakaas. In the Sanctum Sanctorum Saatchinatha Swamy is seen East facing and in the form of a Shiva Lingam. The Pradhosa Naayanar and Chokkanathar too are seen closeby. The Ambal Sub Shrine which is South facing is believed to have been built by Raja Raja Chola I. The Ambal stands in the name of Kuraivilla Azhagi or Karumbadu Solliyammai or Ikshurasa Vani and there are two Dwara Baalagis at the doorsteps of the Ambal Shrine. There is a Palliyarai here and opposite to the Ambal Sannadhi is a Chettiyar Idol. This Chettiyar was believed to be an Accountant with Raja Raja Cholan in those days. There is a Naalvar Sannadhi and near to it is a Dhakshinamoorthy Sannadhi. On top of the Dhakshinamoorthy is a Sattanathar Idol which appears as though Sattanathar is perched on the balcony of Dhakshinamoorthy. In a multi pillared Mandapam on the outer peripheral there is a Vinayagar Idol, Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniyar, Somaskandar followed by a few Shiva Lingams. There are Sub Shrines for Jaya Durgai, Pradikshanathar, Chandikeshwarar, Suryan, Chandiran, Kala Bhairavar, Natarajar and a Navagraha Sannadhi. Goddess Guhambigai is found in a Sub Shrine and She is lauded in Lalitha Sahasranamam. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is a Punnai Maram and the Theertham is Brahmma Theertham. It is said that Dhoranachariar visited this Temple and asked for a Child Boon and He was favoured with a Divine Kid Ashwathaman. Hence many Childless Devotees Pray here and are Blessed with a new born kid. Vinayagar Chathurthi, Aippasi Annabishegam, Arudhra Dharisanam, Masi Magam, Pradhosham, Navarathri are some of the festivals are celebrated in a grand manner. This Temple is under the care of Madurai Aadhinam and is very well maintained.
