This Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva who attains the name of Singeeswarar here. The Temple is located on the Chennai to Thakkolam road just beyond Mappedu. A recent arch built near the main road would guide us to the Temple. Mappedu village in those days was called as Meippedu. The Temple is  built on Dravidian Architecture style and the Rajagopuram consists of 5 Tiers. Here Lord Singeeswarar is found as a huge Lingam. Adithya Karikal Cholan-II, brother of the Great Raja Raja Cholan built this Temple in the year  967 AD. Krishnadevaraya had a big hand in renovating the Temple. The Thaayar here is called as Pushpakujambal. There are several Shrines here and Lord Anjaneya is seen playing a Veena and Praying to Lord Shiva.  The Consort Pushpakujambal  is seen in a separate 16 pillared mandapam. Surya is seen Praying to the  Almighty directly and hence there is no Navagraha Sannidhi here. Devotees born in Star Moolam come here and Pray for thier betterment. Its firmly beleived that Singeeswarar cures all Bone related ailments.
