Varadharaja Temple is located in Thirupattur on the outskirts of Trichy City. The Presiding Deity here is called Varadharaja Perumal most often known as Vidhiyai Maatri Amaikkum Varadharaja Perumal and is East facing. His Consort is called as Poornavalli Thayar or Purushothama Nayagi. This Temple is situated just on the rear side of Brahmapureeswarar Temple. It is believed that this Lord fought the Asuras who had stolen the Vedas and finally retreived it safely. It is also believed that Lord Vishnu relieved the curse incurred by Lord Shiva for cutting one of the heads of Lord Brahma. Though some say that this Temple exists from the Sangam Era, a proper stone construction was built during the period of Nandivarma Pallava. But finally it was renovated by Thirumalai Nayak. This Temple has a 3 tier Rajagopuram with a Swan alongside the Presiding Deity. The Temple is located 33 Kms from Trichy City, where a temporary raod branches off from the National Highway leading us to this Temple. Though close to Trichy metro its a pity that there are no frequent buses to this place. Devotees have to come by 4 or 2 wheeler or engage an Autorickshaw. The Chief Purohit here is said to be Mr.Ramesh who does all the Divine work with utmost sanctity.
