This Maha Saraswathi Amman Kovil is situated on the banks of River Arasalaru in Koothanur, Nannilam Taluk, Tiruvarur District.  The Temple is not a very big one but has a tinned roofing at its entrance with rows of shops on either side selling Divine materials and educational items for the kids since this Temple is believed to upgrade the basic intelligence and knowledge of any learning student.  There are Sub Shirnes for Lord Shiva, Vinayaka and Murugan.  Goddess Sarawathi is the Presiding Deity and She is seen in a sitting posture with one leg folded.  The Temple is generally heavily crowded on Navarathri and Vijayadasami days when several students along with their Parents visit here to fare better in their exams.  Pournami and Wednesdays draws huge number of Devotees here.
