The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Neelakandeshwarar who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. This Temple is also known as Udayeshwar Temple since it is located in Udaypura in Madhya Pradesh.  The entrance of this Temple is made out of red sand stone.  This Temple was constructed by Parmar King Udhayaditya.  This Temple dates back to 1059.  The Maharaj of Gwalior State Jiwaji Rao Scindia renovated this Temple in the year 1929.  This huge Temple is built by following Bhumija style of architecture.  People of Malwa region are specialist in this type of architecture.  Bhumija means born from earth, that's why this Temple looks like as if it suddenly came out of the earth with no platforms around it. The Miniature replica of the whole Temple complex is carved from top to bottom of the main Temple Shrine where the Presiding Deity is kept.  There is a Idol of Nandhi the in front of Shiva Linga. The face of Lord Shiva can be seen on this Huge Shiva Linga.  It is believed that the the First Ray of Sun Falls on the face of Lord Shiva everyday. This Temple attracts huge number of Devotees from far and near during Mahashivarathri Festival.
