The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lord Payaraneeswarar and He is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He Blesses His Devotees along with His Consort Narumala Poonguzhal Nayagi. They are called as Murkabureeswarar and Shakuntalambikai. There is a Shrine for Lord Vinayakar and he is known as Vil Valaitha vinayakar it is because it is believed that the vinayakar of this Temple bent the bow of Arjuna. It is believed that this place was ruled by Kings of Pallava, Chola, Pandyas and Udayars for past hundred years. This Temple is located nearly 9 kelometers from Jayam Kondam. This Temple is one of the ancient Temple in Tamil Nadu and has a Seven tiered Rajagopuram. This Temple has a Huge Sacred Tank and a Huge mandapam can be found at the mid point of this Sacred Tank. Shivarathri, Prodosham are celebrated in a grand manner here in this Temple.
