Shri Ram Temple, Ramtek, Nagpur District, Maharashtra

Ramtek is famous for its Hill temple of Shri Ram. Many believe that Lord Rama rested here for quite sometime when he was in Exile. It is told that as per the Hindu Mythology Sage Agasthya's ashram was built close to Ramtek. While sages of those days performed many religious rites amd Penance the demons around this place used to give them a lot of physical trouble vadalising the area. Lord Rama was red with fury and  rose to the occasion during such times and safeguarded the interests of those sages by killing the demons one after the other. The present Shri Ram Temple is said to be built by Raghuji Bhonsale, a great Maratha Ruler of  nagpur pertaining to the 18th century after his epic battle in which he was victorious over Deogarh Fort in Chindwara. It is  said that the Great Sanskrit Poet Kalidhasa wrote  Meghadoot  during his stay in Ramtek Hills. 

Its a Hill Top Temple with a motorable  Ghat Road leading from the foothills to the Main Temple. The area is lush green everywhere with a few lakes providing enough of water. A few shops have sprung up in recent days on way to the temple.
