Shree Tulja Bhavani Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Goddess Bhavani and is located in Tuljapur of Maharashtra. It is one of the 51 Sakthi Peedas and is located 45 Kms away from Solapur. The Temple was built in the 12th Century by the Maratha King of the Kadamb Dynasty. Bhavani is considered as Goddess Parvathy and is worshipped by many from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Kannada and from Nepal too. She is considered as a source of creative energy killing all the evils. Chatrapathi Shivaji of the Maratha Empire was an ardent Devotee visiting Tuljapur to seek Her Blessings as many times as possible. Apart from the Temples of Renuka at Mahur, Mahalakshmi at Kolhapur, Sapthashringi at Vani, Bhavani of Tuljapur is the 4th great Sakthi Peet in Maharashtra. She vanquished demon Madhu - Kaitabh and restored peace and tranquility. The main entrance bears th name of Sardar Nimbalkar while the other two entrances stand in the name of the parents of Shivaji, Shahaji and Jijabai. There is a Yagna Kund (Holy Fire Pit) before the Temple and on the floor near the two main gates are two huge libraries. There are two Sacred Tanks called as Gomukh Theerth on the right side and Kallol Theerth on the left side. It is considered that a Devotee is expected to bathe in the above two places before seeking the Blessings of Tulja Bhavani in the Sanctum Sanctorum. There are Sub Shrines for Siddhi Vinayak on the left side of the gate while there is a Sub Shrine for Matanga Devi on the right side. Likewise a Sub Shrine for Goddess Annapoorna could be seen on the Main Complex. The Idol of Tulja Bhawani is considered to be Swayambhu of 3 feet tall with 8 arms holding various weapons to demolish the demons. The main Idol follows certain rituals and Her attire is changed 4 times in a day. Entry into this Temple is Free and there is no special Darshan tickets. Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, Navarathri and Holy are celebrated in a grand manner. There are rows of several shops selling all Divine and Pooja articles and also eatables for the Devotees. Though they levy a charge of Rs.50/- per vehicle the car parking area is totally unmanned and left to a few unruly elements who take advantage posing as Rakshaks / Cops and demand more than the requisite fee from vehicles coming from other states. The District Collector would be appreciated if he could do something for the benefit of Devotees coming from other states.
