Nandalur is located between Rajampet and Kadapa and a Welcome Arch on the main road leads us to this Temple. The Temple is also known as Chokkanatha Swamy Temple. The Presiding Deity is Sowmyanatha Perumal who is an Incarnation of Lord Vishnu standing around 7 feet tall and made up of a black stone. Kulothunga Chola-I took initiative in building this temple which was later developed by other Pandiyas, Kakathiyas, Vijayanagara Emperors etc. The Temple is built on a sprawling campus with red stones. The Intricate incriptions reveal all finer details dating between 11th to 17th centuries. The Temple is quite Rich with 120 arcs of agricultural lands. The Temple iis made of 4 Rajagopurams with the Presiding Deity Standing East Facing. The Sanctam Sanctorum is unique in not having any electrical lightings. There is a Shrine for Yoga Narashima Swamy at the entrance leading to the Sanctam Sanctorum. It is believed that performing Pradakshanams or Circumambulation would give a Devotee the desired results. Since the Temple is Located in a residential Locality Two Wheeler and car parking Facilities seem to be cramped.
