Shri Annapurneswari Devi Temple is located on the banks of River Bhadra in a hilly terrian amidst a picturesque ambience with dense lush green forestry of the Western Ghats spread all around. The Temple which comes under Chikmagalur District is approximately located at a height of more than 2700 feet. The Temple draws a lot of Pilgrims and Devotees from far and near on all days of the year. There is a Welcome Arch which stands on a four pillared mandapam decorated with four Yaali statues on all four sides. Pilgrims may have to climb around 40 to 50 steps to reach the level of the Temple. The frontage of the Temple is evenly cemented and hence this makes the walking of the barefooted Devotees very easy. On the left of it is a huge Mandapam with an elevated Podium like structure where Divine functions and Wedding could be conducted. On the right side are a row of Shops selling all Divine Souveniers and other related articles. A refreshment room is available where Devotees can have some eatables. Close to it is their Temple Office. The origin of this Temple is a question of debate and none knows as to when the earlier Temple was built here. It is believed that Sage Agasthiya Maharishi had come here and Prayed to Her Almighty several centuries ago. Anyhow the Temple was recently brought under one roof and Consecrated by Sankarachariya in the year 1973. In the Sanctum Sanctorum Aadhi Sakthi is found in a standing posture whereas Sri Annapoorneshwari is found in a sitting posture and both of them Bless their Devotees. Before these two Idols is a Mahameru Yanthiram. There is a novel way of Praying here, Devotees can buy Rice from a particular place from the Temple and they have to show the Rice before the Main Deity and deposit it in a special box meant for it. This Rice is used by the Temple for feeding its Devotees. There is a belief that those who come here and Pray to Annapoorneshwari Devi will get their Meal and Food for their lifetime without any problem. Bearing in mind the Power of Sri Annapoorneshwari, the Temple Authorities have built a Bhojansala where Breakfast, Lunch and Supper is given free of cost to all Pilgrims visiting this Temple. It is mandatory for the Males to remove their Shirts, Baniyan before they stand in the queue to have a Darshan of their favourite Annapurneshwari Devi. The Moolasthanam or the Sanctum Sanctorum has been built in a very attractive way with Gold and Silver plating wherever possible. The area just before the Sanctum Sanctorum is full of Lamp Stand fixed to a steel railing. Hence Oil Lamps could be lit here without being taken away to other places by anyone. The painting and the wood work done in and around the Sanctum Sanctorum is simply awe inspiring. The entire wall of the Moolasthanam is encircled by the Serpant King who shows His hood on the rear wall. There are Sub Shrines for Anjaneya Swamy, Maha Ganapathi, Mahalakshmi, Maha Kaali, Maha Saraswathi. A Navagraha enclosure too could be seen. There are Seva Counters selling various types of tickets for Paid Darshan, Sevas, Sangalpam, Prasadam etc. The Temple has an exclusive Bus Terminus and the Temple car parking is located next to it. Any number of vehicles could be parked there. A Visit to this Temple is a must for any ardent Devotee since it refreshes the mind and body. Navarathiri and Deepavali are celebrated in a grand manner.
