This Temple is also called as Om Sri Bhavaniamman Temple and is situated in Periyapalayam in Thiruvallur District.This Temple is located on the banks of River Aarani. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Goddess Bhavani Amman It is believed that Goddess Bhavani Amman is closely related to Lord Krishna and was swapped. Not knowing this, Kamsa wanted to kill Goddess Bhavani Amman who then simply vanished from Kamsa's presence informing the Demon that Lord Krishna was already born. It is said that Goddess Bhavani originated as a Swayambhu upon which a Kavasam was wrapped later on. Apart from this there is an Idol of Goddess Bhavani in the Sanctum Sanctorum in which She holds a Sangu and a Chakkram in Her Upper Hand and a Sword and a Amirtha Kalasam in Her Lower Hand. There is a Idol of Lord Vinayaka at the entrance of the Temple. This Temple also has Sub Shrines for Lord Murugan, Lord Srinivasa Perumal, Lord Parasuramar, Lord Hanuman and Goddess Maathangi Amman. It is believed that Goddess Sri Bhavani Amman mitigates the miseries of Devotees carrying 108 Milk Pots on Chithra Powrnami Day. wearing a Neem Leaves Dress around the waist is another form of worship done mostly by the local villagers. The magnificent Temple complex was built around 200 years ago. All Devotees are provided with Free Annadhanam in this Temple. During Tamil Aadi and Aavani months the Temple draws lakhs of Devotees from far and near. It is one of the most famous Amman Temples in Tamil Nadu and a visit here is believed to cure all ailments of anyone.
