Shri.Kailasanathar or Kailasanatha Swamy is the Presiding Deity in this Temple in Thirumanoor. His Consort here is Goddess Kamakshi. The Temple is situated in the  Northern bank of River Coleroon or Kollidam. This Temple was built by Chembian Maadevi who happens to be the  grand mother of King Raja Raja Cholan and mother of King  Uthama Cholan. Its an East facing Temple built in an area of 2.5 Acres. The Southern entrance has a 3 tiered Rajagopuram. The entrance on the Eastern side is without any Rajagopuram and there are 2 Pragarams in this Temple. Lord Kailasanathar is found in the Sanctum Sanctorum  in the form of a Lingam whereas  Goddess  Kamakshi is located in a separate Shrine.  Vinayagar, Somaskandar, Natarajar, Murugan along with Valli and Deivayanai, Chandikeshwarar, Mahalakshmi, Kasi Viswanathar and Vaidyanathar all have separate sub shrines. The Sacred Tree or Sthala Viruksham is a Vilwa Tree.
