The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lord Kailasanathar and He is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He Blessses His Devotees along with His Consort Goddess Kanakambikai. This Temple is a beautiful Temple located on a small island inside River Palar. This island is connected to the main land using a cause way bridge. This Temple is built facing East. Like other Temples this Temple also has a Dwajastambam and Balipeedam. There is a huge Dakshinamoorthi Idol at the entrance of this Temple. This Temple was built by Pallava Kings between 869 - 880 AD. Initially this Temple was called as Saileswaram. Mahashivarathri is celebrated ina grand manner.
