Narayanavanam is a small village in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh close to Tamil Nadu. The former name of Narayanavanam was Narayanpuram and the Pallavas too called it as Narayanapuram only. In olden days Narayanavanam was believed to be the capital of the Kingdom of Karvetinagar. The Temple is supposed to have been built in the year 1541. The Temple is situated 2 Kms East of Puttur and 39 Kms South of Tirupati. The Temple is called as Sri Kalyana Venkateshwara Swamy Temple and the Presiding Deity is Sri Kalyana Venkateswarar who is an incarnation of God Maha Vishnu. It is believed that Lord Venkateswara Swamy married His Consort, Goddess Padmavathy in Narayanavanam and lateron shifted to Thirumala. There is a multi storied Rajagopuram and it is believed that King Krishnadevaraya had built it during his tenure. There are separate Sub Shrines for Goddess Padmavathi Thaayar, Andal, Rama and Sri Ranganayakalu. Opposite to this there is a Hanuman or Anjaneya Swamy Temple and both the Temples are supposed to be Prayed one after the other in tandem. At a short distance from the Temple there is a Temple Tank where float festival and other boat festivals are conducted during the Brahmmothsavam.
