Thirubuvanam or Thirubhuvanam  is very near to Kumbakonam Town. This Temple has a East facing five tiered Rajagopuram which is not oy tall but very wide too. Just beneath the Rajagopuram as one enters, there are two small Sub Shrines. Narthana Vinayagar and Dhandapani occupy both these Shrines. There is a huge multi pillared Mandapam which is painted gorgeously. Even the ceiling of this Mandapam has multiple coloured paintings. There is a Dwajasthambam which pierces this Mandapam roof, a Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Vaahanam placed in a four pillared Mandapam. Beyond this is another 3 tiered East facing Rajagopuram which is colourfully painted and beneath this Rajagopuram are two Dwara Baalakas. On the right is a Sub Shrine for Natarajar and Sivagami Ambal. Further away from it are the Idols of the Anandha Vinayagar and Sri Gajaaroodar. The Presiding Deity who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva is known as Sri Kampaheswarar and this Shrine is slightly elevated and Devotees may have to climb a few steps. The Presiding Deity of Kampaheshwarar is in the form of a Swayambhumurthy Shiva Lingam. It is believed that in ancient times there was a King who had an ailment of Trembling or Quaking hands and as soon as he prayed before the Deity here his ailment was cured and he became fit again. Hence Kampaheswarar is known as Nadukkam Theertha Nayagan here. So many say that anyone praying to Kampaheswarar would be relieved of their Neurological disorders. His Consort here is Goddess Aram Valartha Naayagi or Dharmasamvarthini. At the threshold of this Ambal Sannadhi are two Dwara Baalakais. Aram Valartha Nayaki Ambal is East facing in a standing posture. There is a Palliyarai in Her Shrine. Lord Sarabeshwar occupies a separate Shrine and He stands almost 7 feet tall. His Shrine is so popular among all Devotees and during Raahu Kaalam is simply flooded with an overwhelming number of Devotees who circumambulate His Shrine and get a Divine Lemon from the concerned Purohit. Though Sarabeswarar has a separate Shrine of His own He is also seen in the Sanctum in the form of a Panchaloga Idol. Sarabeshwarar could be seen as a mixture of Human, Eagle and a Lion here. It is believed that Sarabeswarar is supposed to have the combined powers of Shiva, Vishnu, Prathyangara Devi and Mother Durga. It is said that between 1176 to 1218 AD King Kulothungan Cholan III built this Temple. The Temple's Vimanam is unusually high when compared to other Temples.  Panguni Brahmotsavam, Pradosham days and Raahu Kalam on Sundays draws huge number of Devotees. There are Shrines for Vallabha Ganapathy, Suryan, Naalvar, Maha Vishnu, Chockalingam, Chandran, Gajalakshmi, Sanaicharan, Lingothbhavar, Dhakshinamurthy, Lingothbhavar, Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniyar, Chandikeshwarar, Brahmma and Mother Durga. There is a huge stage with an open area where Divine rituals connected to this Temple could be conducted. The Temple has a Ghoshala and they care of the Cattles very well. Bathing in the Saraba Theertham is considered Holy and it is considered that bathing here would get rid of all their ailments and ill effects. This Temple is under the care of Dharmapuram Adhineenam.
