Pillaiyarpatti is located in Thiruppathur Taluk of Sivagangai District. The Presiding Deity here is Sri Karpaga Vinayagar and hence the Temple is either referred as Karpaga Vinayagar Temple or Pillaiyarpatti Temple. This is an ancient Temple with rock cuttings and hence it is known as Kudavarai Kovil in Tamil. The inscriptions, the rock cutting and the excavation of the Panchaloga Idols reveals that it belongs to the 7th Century. Pillaiyarpatti is a remote village and the prime importance of this place is the Temple. The Temple is beautifully located with a 3 tier Rajagopuram facing North. Opposite to this Rajagopuram is a barricaded huge Sacred Tank or Temple Pushkarani. There are scores of shops on either side leading to the Temple and all these shops sell flowers, garlands, coconuts, fruits and souveneir related to the Temple. Facing the Pushkarani and the Rajagopuram is a small Moonjuru Vaahanam. Devotees are lead to this Temple through an East facing Rajagopuram with 5 tiers. They have provided tin sheet roofing to shelter the Devotees from rain and heat. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Sri Karpaga Vinayakar whose Shrine is North facing. There is a Dwajasthambam and a Bali Peedam facing the Shrine of Sree Karpaga Vinayakar. He is unique here since His Trunk seems to swerve to the right side and He is called as Thiruveesar. The entire pillars of this Temple is embedded with Yaali and other Idols. There is an exclusive East facing 5 tiered Rajagopuram pertaining to the Shiva's Shrine. A Dwajasthambam and a Bali Peedam is seen facing the Shrine of Lord Shiva. Marudeesar or Arjunavaneswarar occupies a Shrine and He is East facing. He is in the form of a Shiva Lingam and is in an incarnation of Lord Shiva. His Consort here is Vaadaa Malar Mangai or Asokakusamambal who is seen South facing and in a standing posture. It is important to note here that the Shrines of Shiva, Ambal and Vinayagar are all located very close to one another. There are Sub Shrines for Naalvar, Aghoramoorthy, Sapthamaathas, Pillaiyar, Dhakshinamoorthy, Maada Pillaiyar, Somaskandar, Thiruchutru Vinayagar, Senjadaieswarar, Azhagammai, Valli Devasena Samedha Arumugam, Naganathar, Iru Nagaaridai Vinayagar, Pasupatheeswarar, Mupperum Naagangal, Dhandayudhapani, Gajalakshmi, Mahalakshmi, Saraswathi, Lingothbhavar, Brahmma, Durgai, Chandikeshwarar, Karthayayini, Bhairavar, Suryan and Chandiran. This Temple is unique since Sri Karpaga Vinayagar here is seen with two hands only.
