This Temple is also called as Sri Kothandaramaswamy Temple and its located almost midway from Rameswaram to Danushkodi. Its a kilometer away from the main road. This is an East facing Temple and facing Gulf of Mannar and the Bay of Bengal. It is one of the very few structures that had survived the cyclone of 1964 that had almost wiped and swept off the entire Danushkodi. It is believed that this Temple which stood the test of time facing the vagaries of Mother Nature is more than 1000 years old. There is no Rajagopuram or Dwajasthambam leading to this Temple. Instead there is a tin sheet shelter leading the Devotees to the Temple. There are around 10 to 12 steps to reach the Temple which is built on an elevated place. At that point there are Idols of Rama, Seetha, Lakshmana, Anjaneyaswamy Vibeeshana with Garudalwars placed at either end on top of the Arch or a mini Gopuram. Vibishana's Idol has been included here since this is the place where the Coronation or Pataabishekam of Vibishana took place after the pitched battle between Lord Rama and Ravana. Devotees after entering the steps ought to enter the Temple premises from the rear of the Garudalwar Sub Shrine which is facing the Moolasthanam. Close to it is a Bali Peedam made out of a black stone. There is a Sub Shrine for Saint Ramanujachariya very near to the Garudalwar Sannadhi. The ceiling of this Temple has wooden beams all over and the walls of the Temple has drawings depicting many scenes from the Ramayana that had happened then. This Temple cannot be circumabulated from the inner peripheral since strong ropes have been tied to prevent the Devotees from circumambuating. In the Sanctum Sanctorum Lord Rama, Seetha, Lakshmana, Hanuman are seen East facing along with Vibeeshana who was crowned as the King then. This Temple does not have a Madapalli or a Temple Kitchen. There is a huge Free car parking where more than even 50 vehicles could be parked. Sri Rama Navami and Hanumath Jayanthi are celebrated in a grand manner.
