Sri Elavar Kuzhali Udanurai Sri Kutram Poruthavar Temple is located on the Banks of River Vellar or Neeva Nadhi in a place called S.Aduthurai. Some call this place as Thirukurangaduthurai, Swetha Aduthurai, Sugreeva Aduthurai or Su.Aduthurai. The Temple is also called as Sri Aparatha Ratchagar Temple. Though there are several stories attributing to the name of the place, the one which stands out mainly is that during the Epic Ramayana King Sugreevan and his army followed and worshipped this Shiva Temple. Hence it is known as S.Aduthurai or Sugreevan Aduthurai. This Aparadha Rakshahar Temple is massive and East facing with 7 tieres of Rajagopuram. Beyond the Rajagopuram is a tall Dwajasthambam or Flag Staff and a Bali Peedam. There is a small four pillared Mandapam in which a Nandhi Vaahanam is seen facing the Sanctum Sanctorum. To the left of the Dwajasthamabam a four pillared Oonjal Mandapam is seen and to the right is a multi pillared Alankara Mandabam. Temple rituals and other Divine functions could be conducted in both these Mandapams. Heading towards the Moolasthanam is another small Gopuram with a multi pillared Mandapam. To the right of this is the Ambal Shrine of Elavar Kuzhali or Sugandhakundalambigai. She is seen South facing and in a standing posture. There are two Dwara Baalakis on the doorsteps of this Shrine. There is a small Nandhi Vaahanam and a Bali Peedam facing the Shrine of Ambal. On way to the Sanctum Sanctorum there is a Ganapathy Sub Shrine on the left and a Dhandapani Sub Shrine on the right. They have placed an Image of Ramalinga Vallalar on the right while heading towards the Moolasthanam. The threshold leading to the Moolasthanam looks glittering due to its gold plating. The Presiding Deity is Sri Kutram Porutha Shivan or Sri Aparatha Ratchagar who is East facing and in the form of a Shiva Lingam. Around the Koshtam Idols of Narthana Vinayagar, Dhakshinamoorthy, Lingothbhavar alias Annamalaiyar, Brahmma, Durgai and Chandikeshwarar are neatly displayed. There are Sub Shrines for 63 Naayanmaars, Saptha Maathas, Visalakshi, Kasi Viswanathar, Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniyar, Kamakshi, Varadaraja Perumal, Gajalakshmi, Saraswathi and Meenakshi. The Temple has a Palliyarai and a Sub Shrine for Agora Veerabadrar which are South facing. A South facing Natarajar, a West facing Bhairavar and the Sub Shrine for Suriya Bhagwan adds glory to the Temple. A Navagraha enclosure too could be seen. During the Tamil Month of Panguni 11th, 12th and 13th the Sun Rays falls directly on the Presiding Deity and during these days the number of Devotees visiting this Temple are a lot more. Marriages conducted at Sri Vaaleeswarar Temple, Valikandapuram and Weddings performed in this Temple ought to be registered in this Temple Office with all ample proof. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is Vilvam and Athi Trees and the Pushkarni or Theertham is Neeva Nadhi which is also called as Vanara Snana Theertham. This Temple has come to limelight moreso due to the fact that many Devotees come here to perform the rituals in remembrance of their forefathers during Maasi Magam. Vinayagar Chathurthi, Aippasi Annabishegam, Arudhra Dharisanam, Masi Magam, Pradhosham, Navarathri, Maha Shivarathiri are some of the festivals are celebrated in a grand manner.
