Keelapavoor is a small village situated between Tirunelveli and Tenkasi. It is much closer to Pavoorchatram. The Temple is believed to be more than 1500 years old and is located in a lush green area with coconut groves and cultivable lands all around. The roads leading to the Temple are a bit narrow. The Temple has a East facing Welcome Arch with Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal in the centre and flanked by Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi. Two Garudalwars, a Sangu and a Chakkaram are seen on either side of the Welcome Arch. Though this Temple is called as Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple, the actual Presiding Deity here is an East facing Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal who is seen along with Goddess Alarmelmangai Thaayar in the Moolasthanam. The Urchavamoorthy Vigraham is also found within the Sanctum Sanctorum. Facing the Prasanna Venkatachalapathy is a Garudalwar Sannadhi. Lord Narasimha Swamy is seen facing West and in a sitting posture. He seems to be in a very ferocious and aggressive posture in the Moolasthanam with 16 hands and with Demon Hiranyakasibhu placed on His left thigh and is on the verge of ripping apart and killing Hiranyakasibhu. While four of His hands are seen tearing open the belly of Hiranyakashibhu, the remaining 12 are seen holding 12 different weapons. This Narasimha Swamy Shrine faces the Pushkarani or Sacred Tank in the West so that it would cool Narasimha Swamy after He had vanquished Hiranyakasibhu. Goddess Lakshmi is not found in the Shrine but it is construed that Goddess Lakshmi lives in the Heart or Hriudhayam of Lord Narasimhar. Hence this Temple is called as Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple even in the absence of Goddess Lakshmi. Both the halls of the Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal and Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy are a bit small and could hardly hold around 50 Devotees. Centuries ago Devotees in and around Keelapavur alleged that they could here the roaring sound of a Male Lion particularly during midnight and this was confirmed by several others too. This sound was believed to have been originated from the Sanctum Sanctorum of the Temple. Many locals speak of this even today which goes on to show how Agressive and Omnipotent the Presiding Deity could have been. It is very common to see Devotees lighting oil or ghee lamp and circumambulating the Prahaaram 16 times. Such Devotees get rid of their debts and marriage obstacles too vanish so that they are Blessed with a happy married life thereafter. Lemon and Jaggery Water which is locally known as Panagam is offered here to the Devotees as a Prasadam. Festivals like Vaikunda Ekadesi, Narasimha Jayanthi, Purattasi Saturdays and Swathi Star days are celebrated in a grand manner. The Sthala Viruksham is a  Vilvam Tree and the Sacred Tank or Pushkarani of this Temple is Narasimha Theertham and this is very big in comparison to this small Temple. The big Pushkarani has a Welcome Arch with a Vasantha Mandapam in the centre. The Temple has a Madapalli and a Yaaga Mandapam to perform Yaagam.
