Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Temple is located in Doddaballapura in Bangalore Rural District. Doddaballapura dates back to ancient times when it was a part of the Ganga, Chola and Hoysala Dynasties. Doddaballapur is said to have got its name from a messanger of those years whose actual name was Dodda Ballala. This Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple is built on the banks of River Arkavathi which flows from Nandhi Hills and joins River Cauvery as its tributary. The Temple is believed to have been built 150 years ago. The Temple has multiple entrances. The entrance on the West has a four pillared Arch on top of which the golden coloured Idols of Lakshmi Narasimhar, Lakshmi Varahar and Lakshmi Narayanar are placed. The inner side of the same Arch consists of a Sayana Ranaganathar along with various other Gods and Goddess. There is another entance for the Devotees Northwards. The Dasavathara Idols are found on top of the Gopuram. The third entrance is on the Eastern side. Devotees may have to climb down 5 to 6 steps from the road level to reach the Temple premises. This Temple is East facing and it has been covered with a tin sheet roofing. Facing the Moolasthanam are two Dwajasthamabams made of Stone and Panchalogams. There is a Sangu, Chakkaram and a East facing Anjaneyar Idol embossed on the lower half of the Stone Dwajasthambam. A pair of Divine Feet too is seen next to this. Another coloured Anjaneyar Idol facing the Moolasthanam is seen beneath a huge Vilva Tree. A few golden coloured Idols could be seen on top of the Moolasthana Mandapam too. There is a Garudalwar who faces West towards the Moolasthanam. At the threshold of the Moolasthanam there are two dazzling black Dwara Baalakas who stand guard. To the right is a black Idol of Ramanujar. In the East facing Sanctum Sanctorum Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy is centrally seated with Goddess Lakshmi on His left lap. He is flanked by Sri Lakshmi Varahar and Sri Lakshmi Narayana Swamy. Though this Temple is known as Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple it is actually believed that Sri Yoga Narasimhar dwells here. This Yoga Narasimhar Idol could be seen in golden colour just beneath the Moolavar Vigraham in the Sthambam within the Sanctum Sanctorum. Close to the Moolasthanam there is an Idol for Kalyanamoorthy who is another form of Maha Vishnu. He is seen in a standing posture and flanked by Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi and next to them is a Sudharshana Chakkaram. Closeby there are Idols for Sri Iyyappan, Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar and a Anjaneyar in a kneeling posture. They have erected an elevated podium like structure in which 3 North facing Sub Shrines could be seen and they are as follows: Vannimara Ganapathy, Anajaneya Swamy and Naga Devathas. There are few Virukshams like Vanni Maram, Arasa Maram and Neem Tree along with an Anthill which are considered as Sacred. Narasimha Jayanthi, Masi Magam, Hanumath Jayanthi and other Vaishnavaite functions are celebrated in a grand manner.
