Chelakkara is surrounded on all four sides by Machat hillock range or in other words Chelakkara is a Valley. The Temple is located within a narrow winding street in Pazhayannur in Chelakkara. Chelakkara village has a Narasimhamurthy Temple owned by a Namboothiri family but managed by the Iyers mostly. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lord Narasimhamoorthy who is East facing and He is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Maha Vishnu. Facing the Moolasthanam is a Bali Peedam along with a multi layered oil lamp. The entrance has been nicely decorated with the gold plated Images of Dasavatharam. Next to it there are a few coloured Images of Saraswathy, Lakshmi, Durgai, Narasimhar, Iyyappan, Ganapathy and Murugan. The entire Sanctum Sanctorum and the threshold leading to it looks glittering with its gold plated covering. It is believed that Lord Narasimhamoorthy came here after vanquishing Hiranyakasibhu. Next to the Shrine of Lord Narasimhamoorthy is the Sub Shrine for Lord Iyyappan who is East facing too. The Maha Ganapathi Sub Shrine is South facing and He looks resplendent and glittering to the eyes of the Devotees. This Temple is built by following the typical Kerala Style of architecture. Like other Kerala Temples, this Temple also has several Oil Lamps on its wall and it will be lit in the evening of each day. The outer peripheral of the Temple has a Sub Shrine for Naga Devathas. There is a Sacred Tank and Devotees are allowed to take a Holy Dip in it. This Temple is intricately constructed using many wood works. Devotees visit this Temple in order to attain Salvation, get wealth, get relieved from all ailments, purchase vehicles and to gain knowledge. This Temple is one of the Sacred and Ancient Temple in Chelakkara. They have an Auditorium to conduct Religous functions etc and several hundreds of Devotees can be easily seated. The Temple Purohit is Swasthika who can be contacted in 70259 00622 for conducting any Poojas etc. The Temple also has few rooms for the benefit of the Devotees. The Car festival in this Temple is celebrated in a grand manner. The Temple follows a strict dress code with Males to wear a Mundu or a Dhoti. Devotees coming by vehicle may find it cumbersome to park their vehicles in the narrow lane. Instead they can park their vehicles within the Temple premises where 5 to 6 vehicles could be parked with ease.
