Sri Ranganathar Temple, Devadanam, Minjur, Tamil Nadu

Sri Ranganathar Temple is located in a small village called Devadanam in Ponneri Taluk. The Presiding Deity is Sri Ranganatha Perumal who is an incarnation of Maha Vishnu and who is found in a reclined posture. It is believed that the Chalukya Kings had built this around 1000 years ago on a huge sand mound. The Moolavar of this particular Temple is a replica of the Moolavar of  Srirangam Perumal Temple and hence this Temple is called as Vada Srirangam. The Main Deity of Sri Ranganatha Perumal is around 18 feet long- 5 ft high.  Lord Ranganathar,  is seen sleeping on the Divine Serpent bed with 3 folds formed by the 5 headed Adiseshan  with the right hand of the Lord placed beneath his head and the left hand stretched forward.  A snake hill is found on the western side of this Temple and it is firmly believed that this Serpent God protects the area in general. The Consort is called as Ranganayaki Thaayar.  A Chakkrathalwar Sannathi is also found on the rear of the Temple.  This Temple is fondly revered by the people of North Chennai and Tiruvallur and it is a Kula Deivam to many residing in and around Minjur.
