The actual  name of the Temple Sri Gnanambikai Samedha Sri Saraparameshwarar Temple. There is a Welcome Arch on the road which leads to the Temple. This lane is too narrow. Some refer this famous Temple as Senneriyappar Temple. Senneri in Tamil means the correct way of living a life. In recent days the Temple has gained prominence since it is a Kadan Nivarthi Sthalam which means that Devotees who run a huge debt are relieved of such debts within a short time after they come and pray here. Since the Shiva Lingam here is said to relieve the Debtors off their Debts He is known as Kadan Nivartheeswarar or Sri Rina Vimochana Lingeswarar and hence there is a Divine Yanthiram kept on the rear of the Shiva Lingam. It is believed that those who perform Archanai for 11 continuous weeks followed by a Abhishekam in the 11th week would be rid of all their Debts. He draws enormous number of Devotees in this Temple. The Temple has two East facing Rajagopurams. The bigger Rajagopuram is five tiered and the smaller Rajagopuram comprises of three tiers. There are two concentric compound walls around the Temple premises. There is a Dwajasthamabam, a Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Vaahanam facing the Moolasthanam. The Devotees are regulated to the Temple through an iron railing. At the threshold of the Moolasthanam is a pair of black Dwara Baalaka Idols and close to it is a Vinayagar Idol. The Moolavar or the Presiding Deity of this Temple is known as Sri Saraparameshwarar and He is seen in the Sanctum Sanctorum in the form of a East facing Shiva Lingam. Around the Koshtam of the Moolavar are the Idols of Jura Lingam, Natarajar, Narthana Vinayagar, Dhakshinamoorthy, Bhairavar, Chandrasekarar, Brahmma and Chandikeshwarar. There are Sub Shrines for Sthala Vinayagar, Amirthakadeshwarar, Sapthamathas, Sundarar, Sammandhar, Navukkarasar, Balasubramaniyar, Gajalakshmi, Vayu LIngam, Sri Amman and Jeshta Devi. This Temple is noteworthy for its three Durga Sub Shrines which are North facing. They are 1) Shiva Durgai, 2) Vishnu Durgai and 3) Vaishnavi Durgai and they are believed to attract lots of women Devotees during Raahu Kaalam. The Ambal's Shrine of Sri Gnanambikai is in the outer peripheral and She is seen in a East facing and in a standing posture. At the threshold of the Ambal's Shrine are the Idols of Sakthi Ganapathy and Sakthi Subramaniyar. The Temple has its own Kitchen and a Annadhana Koodam. A Navagraha Sannadhi is located in the outer peripheral. Close to this area they have earmarked a place for lighting Oil Lamps. The Temple has a Sacred Tank outside its premises and its known as Markandeya Theertham, Bindusudha Theertham, Gnana Theertham and the Sthala Viruksham of the Temple is Maavilangai. The Temple lacks car parking space and more then two to three cars can be parked. Its funny that the Temple contractor levies a payment of Rs.20/- to each vehicle when there is virtually no car parking area at all. Vinayagar Chathurthi, Aippasi Annabishegam, Arudhra Dharisanam, Masi Magam, Pradhosham, Navarathri, Maha Shivarathiri are some of the festivals are celebrated in a grand manner.
