Thirupampuram has multifarious names like Seshapuri, Urakapuram etc and it is located on the Southern Bank of River Cauvery. It gains prominence since the Temple in Thirupampuram is a renowned Raahu and Kethu Parihaara Sthalam. It is one of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalam. The Temple is East facing and it has a huge Sacred Tank just opposite to the Temple with a Vasantha Mandapam and an Idol of Raahu Kethu on it. At the outset the Temple has a small Gopuram with a few Divinely Idols on top of it. Beyond that there is a tinned roofing with a Temple shop to the left selling all Pooja articles pertaining to this Temple. There is a Divine Book shop selling all religious and holy books in connection with this Temple. There is a small Vinayagar Idol facing the Pushkarani. A Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Vaahanam is also seen there facing the Sanctum Sanctorum. There is a small three tiered East facing Rajagopuram. The threshold leading to the Moolasthanam is so eye captivating since its gold plated. The Temple staff have framed the ecdysis or shedding of the snake skin which is around 7 feet. Below this is another picture of a similar ecdysis or snake skin shedding that took place years before in the Moolasthanam itself. In the Sanctum Sanctorum Sri Seshapureeswarar who is also known as Sri Pampuranathar is seen as a East facing Shiva Lingam. The Ambal is known as Vandarkuzhali Ammai or Sri Brahmmarambigai and She occupies a separate Shrine for Herself in the outer peripheral of the Temple. She is seen East facing and at the threshold of Her Shrine there are two Idols of Dwara Baalagis. There is a Shrine for Malaieeswarar who is in the form of a Shiva Lingam and from there Devotees could climb a few steps to reach a place from where they can view the Sattanathar. This indicates that the Temple has been included in the list of Maadakovils. Around the Koshtam of the Temple there are Idols for Somaskandar, Dhaksinamoorthy, Lingothbhavar, Durgai, Chandikeshwarar and Brahmma. There is a separate Shrine for the all important Raahu and Kethu. Here both of them are seen along with Maha Vishnu, Brahmma, Bhairavar, Saneeswaran, Aadhi Seshan, the Five Shiva Lingams and the Naalvar Idols. There is a Raja Vinayagar Shrine and Subramaniyar Shrine and jostled between them is a small rectangular Yaaga Saalai. It is called as Seshapureeswarar Arangam and two Images of Raahu and Kethu have been drawn and kept. The Sthala Viruksham is a Vanni Maram and there is a Vanneeswarar Sannadhi. Several Idols of Naga Devathas are kept beneath the Vanni Tree and they have been woven with blue and yellow cloths. The Theetham of this Temple is known as Aadhisesha Theertham or Naaga Theertham. Recently they have built a huge Mandapam similar to a Mangalorian roofing which is being used for doing various Parihaarams in connection with this Temple. There are dozens of inscriptions available in this Temple relating to Kulothunga Cholan III, Raja Raja Cholan, Rajendra Cholan, Sundara Pandian, Sarfoji Maharaja etc. This clearly reveals that this Temple existed even before their time. It is pertinent to note here that none in and around Thirupampuram have died due to Snake Bites which obviously means that Sri Parampuranathar dominates the entire area and takes care for the well being of all His Devotees. This Temple attracts an overwhelming number of Devotees on auspicious and other holidays. It is considered as a very important Temple or Sarpa Dosha Parihaara Sthalam and Raahu Kethu Parihaara Sthalam.
