Sri Subramanya Swami Temple is located in Thamtakodi Thirumalai on a hilltop called Vinayagapuram in Kattukanallur, Madura Reddipalayam. The Murugan hill top Temple is located in Arani Taluk in Thiruvannamalai District close to Kannamangalam. The Road leading from the foothill of the Temple to the Temple top is mostly rickety, narrow and full of potholes. Devotees can either drive uphill through their vehicle or could walk all the way through a flight of steps. There is a Welcome Arch leading to the Temple in which the Idols of Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniya Swami, Arthanareeswarar etc are seen. The entire Temple is believed to have been built in the shape of a Star on this Thamtakodi Thirumalai. There is a huge tin sheet roofing where wedding and other religious functions could be held with effortless ease. The Idols of Suryan, Chandran, Yaaga Saalai etc are West facing. There is a Spear, a Bali Peedam and a Dwajasthambam facing the Moolasthanam. There is a Mayil Vaahanam near the Dwajasthambam and an Image of Murugan flanked by His Consorts is embosed on the base of the Dwajasthambam. The Mandapam housing the Sanctum Sanctorum and other Sub Shrines within are decoratively planned and the walls including the roofing are so gorgeously painted with multiple colours so that it would attract the eyes of the Devotees seeing them. Even the flooring of the entire Mandapam has been done with black granite. At the threshold of the Moolasthanam are two Dwara Baalakas and on either side of the Sanctum Sanctorum there is a Sub Shrine for Valli and another Sub Shrine for Devasena. In the Moolasthanam Sri Subramaniya Swamy stands alone East facing to Bless His Devotees. The Idols of Dhakshinamoorthy, Durgai and Sri Sumeethreshwarar adorn the walls of the Koshtam. In the Maha Mandapam itself, slightly rear to the Moolasthanam are the Sub Shrines for Kanni Moola Ganapathy and the Urchavamoorthis along with Vinayagar, Ammai Appar and Sri Mahalakshmi find themselves enclosed in a sparkling glass panel and all these Idols are East facing. There is another Idol for Arunagirinathar who is South facing. In the outer peripheral the six Karthigai Pengal are placed in such a way that all six of them face the Moolavar at all times. They are as follows: 1) Abarakethi, 2) Varthayethi, 3) Megenthi, 4) Amba, 5) Thula and 6) Nidharthani. In the outer peripheral there are a few trees at the rear and beneath them is a Vinayagar Idol and other few Idols of Naga Devathas. The most eye captivating feature of this Temple is the Sub Shrine for the Navagrahams. They have designed it in such a way that it resembles as though a Lily Stem comes out from the shell of a Tortoise and the Navagrahams are placed on it. The most noteworthy point is that each of the Navagraham has been designed and placed based on the colour of their Raasikal. The Temple has its own Kitchen and Office functioning within its premises. An Annadhana Koodam too is available for the welfare of the Devotees. It also has a Thulabhaara facility for Devotees to offer anything according to their weights. There is a facility for breaking coconuts at a particular place since breaking of coconuts is not allowed in other places of the Temple. Likewise they have a exclusive enclosure or a room to light oil lamps. Kids finds this Temple attractive due to the presence of a Peacock enclosure that they have on the hilltop. The Temple has a well maintained Ghoshala. There are facilities for head tonsuring here. Two Temple Chariots are available and they are run and taken around during Kiruthigai Days. Chita Pournami, Shasti, Kiruthigai all Tuesdays, Vaikasi Visakam, Ippasi Brahmmothsavam, Thai Poosam and Vaigasi Visakam are the festivals are celebrated in a grand manner. The entire functioning of the Temple is looked after by Sri Subramaniya Swamy Charitable Trust and they deserve to be appreciated for the way and manner in which they are running the Temple.
