The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Sukreeshwarar and He is an incarnation of Lord Shiva.  He Blesses His Devotees along with His Conosort Goddess Aavudai Nayaki.  It is believed that Sugreevar worshiped Lord Shiva here and hence the name Sukreeswarar Temple.
