Shri Uma Maheshwara Temple is located in  a hilly terrain of Yerramala Hills  in Yaganti near Banganapalle in Nandyal District, AP.   The Presiding Deity is Sri Uma Maheswara who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva.  The Presiding Deity is found along with His Consort together as Ardhanareeswara and not as a Shiva Lingam.  The Sanctum Sanctorum is Air Conditioned and kept cool for the sake of His Devotees.  Another unique factor is that a huge Nandhi found outside the Sanctum Sanctorum is believed to be growing by one inch in every 20 years.  Another important piece of information is that this Temple does not have a Sub Shrine for the Navagrahas unlike all other Shiva Temples.  There are Sub Shrines for Veera Badraswamy, Kasi Viswanathar, Lord Ganesha, Lord Murugan, Markandeya Lingeshwarar and Siddha Lingeshwarar It is one of the most fascinating Shiva Temples of Andhra and it dates back to the 5th and 6th Centuries with the Pallavas, Cholas, Chalukyas and the Vijayanagara Rulers all contributing to its construction and maintenance in one way or the other.  King Harihara Bukka Raya of the Vijayanagara Empire had a very big hand in its construction.  There are several caves here and many Saints are said to occupy these caves for their meditation.   One such Telugu Saint was the great Potuluri Veera Brahman Garu.  It is believed that while Sage Agastya was doing Penance he was distrubed by several crows from above his head.  He got furious and cursed the King of Crows viz. King Kakasura and as a result of this curse no crows flies over this Temple till this date.   Due to the above mentioned facts Shani too does not come to this Temple as Crows are said to be His Vaahan.  There is a Pushkarani or a Sacred Tank with a small Vasantha Mandapam in the middle of it and  Water flows throughout the year from the mouth of a Nandhi Statue to this Pushkarani.   There are two notable caves here which people visit 1) Agasthya Cave is a place where Sage Agastya did Penance to Lord Shiva and an Idol of Devi is installed here.  Devotees have to climb more than 120 steep steps to reach here and the Sick and elderly Devotees may find it very difficult 2) Venkateswara Cave is relatively easier to climb.   Here the Idol of Lord Venkateshwara whose toe nail was found damaged has been installed.  Devotees visiting Shree Umamaheswara Swamy Temple never miss out these two Cave Temples noted above.   A Welcome Arch is found close to the Main Road leading to this Temple and they levy a small FEE to all vehicles coming here.   There is a ample Car parking and Two Wheeler parking facilities.  The Temple has enough of Rest Rooms and drinking water facilities.
