This Temple is located in Thiruvathigai in Panruti. Its a massive Temple, quite huge and kept immaculately clean. The Presiding Deity is Veerattaneswarar and His Consort is called as Umayammai ot Thirupurasundari or Periyanayagi. It is one of the largest Temples of the State and has 2 Gateway Towers. This Temple is said to be Adminstered and Maintained by Thiruvaduthurai Adheenam. It is one of the Paadal Petra Sthalams. Its believed that King Rajaraja Cholan had visited this Temple  for few days and to study the intricacies of its architecture for building the Tanjavur Brahadheeswarar Temple. Lord Shiva is a Swayambumurthi here. It is beleived that Appar for a temporary period embraced Jainism during which time he had an incurable stomach ailment and pain. His sister who followed Hinduism brought Appar to the Temple and prayed before the Almighty due to which its beleived that Appar got fully cured. Hence he had lavishly sung in praise of Veerattaneswarar. Any Devotee visiting this Temple is bound to get immense peace of mind and is believed to get cured of all ailments particularly stomach disorders.  Thevaram songs were rendered in this Temple first time.
