Kuchanur is located near Chinnamanur in Theni District and is close to one of the channels of River Surabhi. Kuchanur in earlier days was known as Shenbaganallur. Saturn or Lord Saneeswarar is the Presiding Deity here. Lord Saneeswarar is also known as Kuchanooran. Lord Saneeswarar has manifested as a Swayambhumurthy. Generally in other Temples Saneeswarar is found as one among the Navagraham whereas here He has a separate Shrine of His own. It is considered as one of the Navagraha Temples in Tamil Nadu. Here Lord Shiva is called as Lord Dharbaraneswarar and His Consort Parvathi is known as Pramambika. There are Shrines for Swarna Vinayagar and Lord Subramanya Swamy. There is a belief that those suffering from Evil Effects have to stay in the Temple during day and somewhere in the Temple Vicinity for the Night. Every Saturday of the Tamil Aadi month draws lots of Devotees. The Sthala Viruksham here is Shenbaga Tree. Crows are considered Sacred & are first fed with the Temple Prasadam.
