This Temple is located in Manimoortheeswaram within Tirunelveli Town and the Presiding Deity is fondly called as Vinayagar or Manimoortheeswaram Uchishta Ganapathy. The Temple consists of a five tiered Rajagopuram and has a huge compound wall. There is a long open space or a vacant area after the Tower to enter the Temple. A Moonjoor or a Mouse Idol which is a Vahanam of Lord Ganapathi is found next to the Dwajasthambam and Bali Peedam and is a key attraction here. This Temple is considered to be Asia's biggest Uchishya Ganapathi Temple. There is no Idol present in the Mahamandapam of the Temple and this is considered to be unique. Uchishta Ganapathy is actually one of the 32 forms of Lord Vinayaka. In the Sanctum Sanctorum of this Temple Lord Ganapathi is seen with His Trunk on the naval of a Woman. The Temple also has a small Sub Shrine for God Nellaiappar. Ganapathy is generally considered as a Brahmachari ( a person who has taken a vow never to marry and to remain celebate) but here He is depicted as embracing a Woman and this is expained that he is granting a Child Boon to the Woman. Therefore Devotees who are Childless throng this Temple to have a kid and more often than not their wishes are fulfilled. It is a practice here that Devotees perform Abhishekam to the Presiding Deity in the Sanctum Sanctorum and offer new clothes or Vashtram to Him as a mark of respect. Vinayaka Chathurthi is celebrated in this Temple with great fanfare.
